Alice Awards & Auction

June 5, 2010
Bison Building in Portland

Each year, the BTA presents the Alice Awards to individuals, businesses, and organizations in Oregon and SW Washington whose work has promoted the use of bicycles and increased the livability of our communities.

The Alice Awards & Auction is the year's gala bicycling event, attended by elected officials, civic leaders, bike heroes and everyday cyclists, and it raises funds  to support the advocacy and education work of the Bicycle Transportation Alliance.

Oregon Bike Summit

June 4, 2010
Portland

The Oregon Bike Summit is THE opportunity of the year to network with Oregon's top bicycle advocates and active transportation professionals. Learn about national and state legislative issues, connecting active transportation and health care, growing cycling tourism in Oregon, and hear from incoming BTA Executive Director Rob Sadowsky about what lies ahead for the BTA and for bicycling in Oregon. Register today!

The Night Ride

July 10, 2010
Portland's Union Station

This ride, formerly known as the Midsummer Night Ride, is a Portland classic: costumed participants will ride en masse through North and Northeast neighborhoods, entertained by fire jugglers, the Last Regiment drum corps, and the cheers of curious crowds come out to watch. The ride begins and ends at Union Station, where revelers will gorge on donuts before heading out to their next nighttime engagement.

Providence Bridge Pedal

August 8, 2010
Downtown Portland

Attracting thousands of cyclists to crisscross the Willamette River Bridges, Providence Bridge Pedal is an annual ride that has been called "the perfect Portland event." Riders go places normally off limits to bikes (freeway bridges!), reminding themselves and the rest of the city how sweet a world without cars can be - even if only for a day.

The Bridge Pedal is an important fundraiser for the BTA, supporting the work we do to make it safe for riders of all ages and abilities to ride in their communities.

Join the fun as a volunteer - sign up online today! Every year the BTA needs help registering riders and cheering bikers on during the ride.

Tour de Fat

August 14, 2010
Portland’s Waterfront Park

Each year the Tour de Fat brings bike fun for a good cause to the Portland Waterfront. Sponsored by the bike-loving brewers at New Belgium Brewing, the Tour de Fat raises funds to support the BTA’s work to make our region a great place to ride a bike.

The Tour de Fat offers family rides and other circus-style wackiness, music on the outdoor stage, a beer garden and a chance to support the BTA while having a good time.

BTA volunteers support the Tour de Fat each year. Learn more and sign up online!

Bike Commute Challenge

September 2010
Your workplace!

Since 1995, the BTA has offered challenges – and rewards – to bikers and businesses when they bike to work.

The BTA’s annual Bike Commute Challenge is a friendly competition — workplace against workplace — with benefits for companies and individual cyclists when employees bike to work during the month of September. The workplaces with the highest percentage of commutes by bicycle during the month win!
