Bike Commute Challenge

Since 1995, the BTA has offered challenges – and rewards – to bikers and businesses when they bike to work.

The BTA’s annual Bike Commute Challenge is a friendly competition — workplace against workplace — with benefits for companies and individual cyclists when employees bike to work during the month of September. The workplaces with the highest percentage of commutes by bicycle during the month win!

Alice Awards & Auction

Each year, the BTA presents the Alice Awards to individuals, businesses, and organizations in Oregon and SW Washington whose work has promoted the use of bicycles and increased the livability of our communities.

The Alice Awards & Auction is the year's gala bicycling event, attended by elected officials, civic leaders, bike heroes and everyday cyclists, and it raises funds  to support the advocacy and education work of the Bicycle Transportation Alliance.

Providence Bridge Pedal

Attracting thousands of cyclists to crisscross the Willamette River Bridges, Providence Bridge Pedal is an annual ride that has been called "the perfect Portland event." Riders go places normally off limits to bikes (freeway bridges!), reminding themselves and the rest of the city how sweet a world without cars can be - even if only for a day.

Last year, Bridge Pedal's 12th Anniversary, more than 20,000 cyclists had the opportunity to ride across all 10 of Portland's Willamette River Bridges! It was the biggest celebration in the ride's history.

This years ride will take place on Sunday, August 10th! Registration begins in May!

The Bridge Pedal is an important fundraiser for the BTA, supporting the work we do to make it safe for riders of all ages and abilities to ride in their communities.

The Night Ride

Once known as the "Midsummer Night City Bike Tour," this midnight classic tours the sleepy streets of Portland – and raises funds to support the BTA’s advocacy and education work!

This year's Ride, which will be held on Saturday, July 12th, has a new route to go with its new name. Check back with us for more information as the event gets closer.

Tour de Fat

Each year the Tour de Fat brings bike fun for a good cause to the Portland Waterfront. This year's event will be held on Saturday, August 16th. Sponsored by the bike-loving brewers at New Belgium Brewing, the Tour de Fat raises funds to support the BTA’s work to make our region a great place to ride a bike.

The Tour de Fat offers family rides and other circus-style wackiness, music on the outdoor stage, a beer garden and a chance to support the BTA while having a good time.
