Safe Routes to School Technical Advice and Assistance

We provide technical expertise and training for schools and communities around Oregon considering or planning Safe Routes to School programs, including Portland, Beaverton, Bend, Lake Oswego, Ashland, Medford, Salem, Eugene, Corvallis, and Wilsonville.

The Oregon Department of Transportation supports the Bicycle Transportation Alliance and Willamette Pedestrian Coalition work to provide technical advice and assistance to Oregon communities interested in developing Community and School Traffic Safety programs.

  • Visit Our Interactive Website: For schools and communities throughout Oregon as a central point for statewide Safe Routes to School activities. Visitors can communicate with each other, and the site provides information and downloadable resources for kids, parents and others.
  • Subscribe to the Quarterly Safe Routes to School Newsletter to learn about the Safe Routes activities taking place throughout Oregon subscribe to our email newsletter. Request your subscription from Susan Peithman.
  • Contact the National Center for Safe Routes to School for technical advice or assistance and share what your school community is up to.
  • Request local presentations and technical advice from our Safe Routes to School Program Director Angela Koch, who can give a powerpoint-based presentation to your community or coalition meeting, and give out materials packets and guidebooks. We can provide technical assistance and advice, depending upon our staff availability, and can refer your group to other organizations and resources. Presentation can include: overview of SR2S concepts, Oregon partners, resources and activities and other funding sources, national activities and resources, and how to launch and build a successful SR2S program in your community.
